The First Big Four

No, this is not about Daniel, Jane, Mariz or Vickie...
More so not about Kuya who is leading the Pinoy Big Brother house.

This is about the first Big Four converts of Jesus' public ministry, that can be found in John 1:32-51.

Few weeks back, I was able to share the same message as I was given the opportunity to share the Word of God in Faith Hope and Love Assembly church in Angat, Bulacan, Philippines. This is an excerpt...

The story started the following day after John the Baptist was introduced in the Book of John. He was standing with 2 of his disciples when Jesus arrived.

36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"

And right there and then, they followed Jesus...

It was ANDREW.
And the first thing he did was to GO and look for his brother Simon and share with him the good news. A great example of true love for a brother... Andrew's declaration was triumphant when he said to Simon, "we have found the Messiah." (v.41) It was full of joy, excitement and confirmation. And he cannot just sit and keep that joy in himself; he immediately look for his brother.

When Andrew heard what John said, he responded and believe. When you learned about Jesus, have you done the same? Did you even bother to tell your siblings about that experience? Were you able to share Jesus to your family?

Second is SIMON (Peter).
Andrew's brother who immediately respond after his brother shared to him. Jesus called him by his name.
"You are Simon, the son of John. You will be called Cephas."(v.42).
Jesus called Simon by his name, He knew him personally. He knew you and me personally. Jesus even mentioned his father's name.

Does it moved you... that God knew you personally? He knows your parents, he knows just everything about you...

The next day, Jesus decided to go to Galilee; there He met PHILIP and said to him, "Follow me." (v. 43)
Yes, Jesus found Phillip. Christ sought us and found us. Just like how He invited Philip to follow Him, the same invitation was given to us...

How do we respond? He is waiting for your answer...

Then last on big four is NATHANAEL.
He is Philip's friend. And unlike the first 3 who quickly follows, Nathanael had his questions before believing his friend. "Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth?" (v.46)
Yet his questions was answered not by Philip but by Christ Himself. Just like us, we, alone cannot justify the faith that we have, unless we have the Holy Spirit who will speak through us. Christ will reveal Himself to anyone who wants to know Him more...

True Christianity is following Christ, devoting ourselves to His converse and conduct, attending to His movements and treading His steps.

Do we see ourselves from this BIG FOUR?
