One Sunny Day

We seldom see the beauty of our own backyard...
In the busy life that we have, we neglect to see what's instore for us in the surrounding environment.
And often, we plan to go far from our own place to relax and unwind.
But have we ever tried to look around you?
In your neighborhood? On the street next to yours?

On my previous post, you joined me on My Route  and you've seen the Sharjah-Dubai road on my way to work. The high rise buildings, vast dessert and the on-going constructions which symbolizes the continuous development and evolution of Dubai.

Now, let me show you one of Sharjah's beautiful spots.. the newly constructed buildings with ancient Arabic look... their old dhows and the new yachts...

I've seen the past and the future during this one sunny day - and a bright and shinny realization of what life was... is...  and would become.

This is the the Government road in the Corniche / Khalid Port Area...
where some of the Sharjah Government buildings are located.

---
A clean and well maintained street that is best for walking or biking...
Facing these buildings is the Khalid Port.
Here, I've seen the evolution of Sharjah...
How they were before and what have they become.

 The Old Dhow

This peaceful area gave glimpse of the past...
resting in the shadow of present...
looking forward to the bright future.

From old to new...

Holding on to the lessons from yesterday...
to be ready for the storm today.

Despite the creation of new yachts and big vessels,
they still give importance to their dhows by restoring the old ones...

Combining the present and the past...

They value their country and their culture...
that bridges them to the future.

---

Everyday, thousands of people passed along this bridge where you can see these beautiful architectures.
Yet due to the busy and rush hour traffic... not many of them notice what this area really symbolizes.

I admire the decision of the Sharjah government not to embrace the evolution of the new architectures and modern Skyscrapers... but to keep their identity and culture the way they are.

Same with us... in this fast changing life, we tend to go with the flow, be updated with what's in on this generation. With all the gadgets and all the 'right stuff' that keeps on upgrading every three months.

These items are good... it helps us somehow and make our living easier. The technology of mobiles and internet keeps us connected to our families and to the world.

But they can also become a source of false security... and even pride. Like money, some becomes obsessed with these material things. Finding happiness on this earthly possessions and wants to have more.

It changes us...we tend to forget who we really are and what we really want to be. Where we are and where we want to go...

Life is journey. We never know what's around each curve, through each forest, across each river... and Jesus taught us to travel light, taking only what we really need for this journey -- God's divine love that provides richness unmatched by any worldly possession.

Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
This too is meaningless.
Ecclesiastes 5:10
