Spoiled Girls Move It in SG

We had a sweet escape last week @ Singapore!
It was a short but worth spent holiday with friends...
and this is how we move it...

Cruise Along Chao Phraya River

I had a 5-days short visit to Thailand. It was my first time and admittedly, I didn't have much expectations since they always compare it to Manila.

That is one good thing that I learned from travelling; the places is not exactly what it was on Google, so its better to expect less and be surprised rather than get frustrated. And yes, BKK surprised me... being a Filipino, somehow its painful to admit that it is way better than Manila...

Travel time from Dubai to Bangkok is about 6.5 hours. We arrived in the afternoon.

Road to 35: Treasures Unfold

As the number of our years increased, number of people in our lives decreases...

I remember celebrating my birthday, full house... from friends, colleagues, high school and college classmates, friends of friends and friends of friends of friends.

Those were the days when strangers come over not to celebrate but to drink with other friends. When you just walk with bottle beer, checking on each group of people if they were enjoying... Party normally ends the following day.

As I think of it... yes, indeed those were the happy days.
And as I try to recall one or two of my "happy birthday celebration" and try remember the different faces who were there; it seems that most of them were just part of my past. Very few are still on my present...

People come and go. That is something that I learned from my mentor while I was still in broadcasting network.

But through the years, I learned that:

You can choose the people who will stay in your life and those that you will let go...

Being friends is not about being together everyday; even if you talk to a certain people daily, it doesn't mean that you are friends... and not talking or chatting everyday doesn't means you were no longer friends.

No time nor distance can separate real friends.

Onwards and Upwards

Hello 2015!

I am looking forward to the bestest year ever...

I have my first-7-days reasons why:

01 Jan is FAMILY | This is the best place anyone can be... when we are with family.

After 7 years, I was able to celebrate New Year at home with all the "rounded" fruits on the table, colorful fireworks, loud firecrackers and a happy noisy extended family.

Celebrate Life

Today, I am celebrating my 34th.

Probably, I am stepping at the half stage of my life... more or less... maybe.

My FB account was flooded with greetings from family and relatives, friends, former classmates, church family, acquaintance and career connections.

Yes, even in people, there are categories, and that is the reality; as time passes by, I realized that there are different level of relationship for every people that surrounds us
As we grow more mature, our friends became less in numbers. Others became not just friends but family to us; they are those few who stayed all throughout... while others left when things get rough. As the saying goes, I'd rather have one true friend than hundred fake ones.

Are you enjoying your silence?

My colleague who sits in front of me just asked that question...
Today is not a busy day for me, or shall I say, not a working day for me.
Uhhmmm -- Holiday in the office!!!
And the cold weather makes it just perfect...

Since morning, there are very few things. No red flags. No WIP. I just released several materials yesterday for my account. Today is indeed a rest day, if I may say.

Yet, times like these are crucial... Idle times are the most dangerous time as the 'enemy' uses this to put several things on our mind... Things that we should not even think about.

What's on your mind?

Familiar question?

We answer it every day if you are not the type of user who change their "Facebook - mind status" every minute. Who doesn't have an FB account? I know some who cancelled theirs already, for some personal reasons. I have thought of cancelling mine too, at one point...until I realize that somehow, we can use this as a tool for spreading the Good News.

If you are my friend, you can surely read Bible verse and some preachings or Biblical phrase on your news feed or ticker from my account, whether you like it or not! And that's what I like about it... being able to reach other people and share God's Words even to those who weren't reachable before.

For Them

I lit this candle today for them...
Them, who was once with us in this journey
People who shared a portion of their life with us
They, who extended their love unconditionally
and touched our hearts wholeheartedly.

The Life that is Truly Life

It's my 200th post.
After saying Bye Bye Love on the 2nd year of Kali...
It's about time to let go of the life I planned to accept the life that is waiting for me.

As I randomly checked some of my previous posts, memories flashed back... actually, I cannot believe that I was able publish it and let people enter into my life.
From the story of The Good Samaritan...  and how I was EMBARRASSED by my nephew's faith and the many Happy Thoughts that we shared...
Different issues, personal stories, you got to know my family and friends, I was able to share my point of views, my dreams and frustrations, heartaches and pains, inspirations and goals...

Flydragon Flies

In our journey, there are these strangers that will somehow leave an impact in our lives...
People whom we do not know personally, yet touched our hearts even in very simple way.

Flydragon is one of my first few followers here in my blog.
She has inspired me with A little of this... A little of that
Reading her daily adventure makes blogging more fun and exciting with her witty stories... I looked forward to her posts, the birds and the flowers... her comments and once in a while hi and hello!

27 na si NENE

Parang kailan lang...
.

.
bata at sariwa... masipag at matiyaga :)

.

.
dati rati, wala pang anggulo.

.
.
sa lahat ng ito, piping saksi ako...
mga pagbabago, unti unting nakita sayo.
dati pag nag beach tayo, lagi kang naka-sando...

kita mo shorts mo... hanggang tuhod kahit wala namang tao!

yang mga ganyan, sobrang na miss ko,
ung walang humpay mong pa-picture, kaya laging wala ako!
.

 .
isang taon lang ang lumipas...
naglantad ka na...
and dating back shot, frontal na!

.
.
maraming pangyayari... pagbabagong naganap.

palibhasa'y payat, buto't balat, magaling lumilipad!
kahit san man mapadpad...
tagumpay mo ang aking hangad :)

We love you, Berk!

BFF

"Sinong bestfriend mo doon?"

I remember this line from a TV commercial during early 90's... (though I already forgot for which company/brand it is).

But the story, if I am not mistaken is about 2 kids, one's family will be leaving and the other stays...

I feel for that kid. I am the one who left. I was 14y/o when we first moved...
My life turned upside down... even though I know that there are No Goodbyes...

And guess what... Its been 15 years of almost ZERO communication.
Long enough that most of my GS and HS friends are now married and with kids...

And though our path has moved into different places and travelled in opposite directions in the world, the loooooong gap was never a reason to lose the friendship bond.

After some times, through the help of FB, I was able to talk with them again, and the 15 years or moooore was not long enough after all.
We were able to update each other in just one sitting!
Who - What - When - Where - How? Everything started on the first day that we separated.
The connection is something that is wonderful. We still sing the same tune... and though we were not seatmate for a long time, we are still sitting on the same bench... :)

The feeling is amazing!

It's like finding yourself again. Talking to a friend who knows who you were, decades ago... reminding you of those simple happiness... playing around the campus, exchanging notes during recess, and overnight letters as if you were not together for ages.
The gimiks after school hours, eating at our fave resto... ghost haunting... outing on weekends... simple things that shows what it takes to be happy.

Then, there's this flashback... when you're just wondering about this day, while you were just dreaming to be the person that you are now... and what happened in between...

After all this years, I am grateful knowing that we are still friends... and those promises written on those note pads that I've been keeping were all real...

Years passed. It feels sooo good to know that you still have them...
The promise of being Forever Friends was never broken and the answer to the question is still the same...

"Syempre, Ikaw lang!"

HBD

to my bestfriend in the whole world...
may God continously guide you in this journey called life.
i love you always.

Farewell to my Friend, Tep

14 years ago, i met Tep at LAMS. we were both transferees.
i first hated him, because he seems so rude and really naughty... he is really Pasaway!
yet we became close... literally close since he instantly sits next to me during exams :)
our class is known to be the worst... and having stephen around, he was a big part of that.

one thing that i really admired about tep is being a real man. he never had a fight with anybody in the campus... instead, he is the friend of everybody. (im not sure if our teachers will agree)

from pre-schoolers to seniors, they know who is stephen sy.
the guy who sits next to our security guard waiting for the opening of the gate during dismissal.
the student who dont write anything on his notebook yet passed and graduated on time.
his blood is 75% alcohol and his breath is 80% nicotine...

tep didnt live a perfect life. he is always misunderstood. the easy go lucky man. the cool guy.
that is what most people knew about him... and that is why we all love him.

he might not lived according to standards, but he lived for other people...
he showed us a great example of what living and loving really is...
its not just money or having a good and promising job...
but more than that, living according to stephen is to give happiness and time to other people.
to give love to his family and care for his friends.

he might not achieved a lot professionally, but he is richer that anybody else here.
he is the boss of his life....

cherry and tep's family might be surprised seeing all the people who loved tep. he is everybody's bestfriend and touched the lives of many people... now, you know the reason why he stayed late outside... thank you for sharing tep with us.

stephen left a legacy of love and friendship. his life's journey is about giving happiness to his loved ones.

certainly, he will be missed... inuman wont be complete without him.. it will never be the same, without his crazy ideas and funny stories.

but all things have its own ending, yet it will also be a beginning.
today, tep is now at peace with our Lord God.
we are all mourning for his lost, but the angels are now cheering as he joined them.
he has given us so much happiness and its the time for him to share it up there!

Tep has finally reach the real heaven... sabi nga nila, dun wala ng beer!
and the cool reality is - may angel na tayo... at si tep yun.
for sure, he will be there to guide us always!

to you tep, you know how much i love you. i am forever be grateful for your friendship.
i will never say goodbye, for in the right time, i know that we will see each other again...

sad tuesday 2

its another sad tuesday.
almost the end of the day... office i mean... yet i cant still figure out what to say.

there are a lot of topics playing on my mind... lot of stories to share from my vacation... also have some realizations that i want to share, about life, about love, about money and about happiness. but nothing really comes out from me.

its 10 minutes before the clock ticks 6PM, most people left already for the Dubai lynx, including our director...
i have all the time to write... i'm doing it... but i dont know what will be my next sentence.

i am not in the mood to write... or rather, i would say, not inspired to write.
yes! that's the word!!!

last night, i got this message from a friend:
"i'm leaving on a jetplane... dont know when i'll be back again."
yes! you can sing if you want to...
but for me, that made me sad.

the sender is my BLOG MENTOR. the person who pushed me to open this account. he guided me all the way and gave me all the technical and moral support that i needed.
he introduced me to the cyberworld :) twitter, SU, Digg, Wordpress... what is SEO, RSS Feeds, Adsense, yes, basically, everything.

we are chatting everyday, yet we only met once - just recently when he accompanied me to Philippine Embassy...

the thing is, his company was affected by the financial crisis...
and there is no other choice for now.

this is the reality...
nothing is secured.
this crisis hits everybody around the world.
it might be in different ways, but yes, we were all affected.

for me, i have learned that nothing really belongs to you materially.
in a snap or blink, all that you possesed may turn into dust.

its good that we have God. that we have faith. hope. love.
these wont be included in the debit notes...
banks cannot take it away...

everyday, i thank God that i still have my job.
that i still have my family and friends.
and that im still alive.

for in this world, we will never be secured.
but with God's love, we dont need to be afraid.

"For I am the Lord, your God, who takes old of your right hand & says to you, do not fear, I will help you." Isaiah 41:13

wooohhwww!
something came out :) yes! i already have a post, now!
_____
to you... i cannot offer any help for now, except my prayers.
'til we meet again! ingat :)

for my Kopimate - Mayjay

all saints' day passed...
but not all saints...

today, our very own Goddess is celebrating her special day.
our Saint Mayjay's Birthday.

you asked me why?
i'll asked you, why not?

she is one of the "darling of the press"
"hero of the oppress"
"miss congeniality"
but never... "ms. confidentiality"

everybody loves her.
nobody hates her.
everybody wants to be her friend...
though she's not everybody's friend.
most of us are thankful...
almost all are grateful...
having mayjay around is joyful...
when she's gone, its awful...
young at heart, she'll always be...
the baby sister for everybody.

she's so jolly, like jollibee...
sometimes moody, just like me.

but what's important is to know who is she...
she's somebody, a friend should be.

happy BURPday MEHE!
we miss you so much...

Barracuda Beach - Umm Al Quwain

our neighbor, kuya jeff, introduced the Barracuda Beach to us.
he said its good place for crabbings...
and really have big crabs!

then we set a date - Nov. 6...we will go there - with them.

but 2 weeks before the set date...

our friend's parents went here for a visit.
one dinner, we discussed the barracuda island... and the fun of crabbing!
and we set another date. Oct. 24!

the problem: no one in the group knows crabbing!
the solution: canon + nikon = great pictures!

WELCOME TO BARRACUDA :)

Kali - Dekada

KALI is one of the most well known and worshipped Hindu Goddesses. It is derived from the Hindu word that means "time", and that also means "black". In Hinduism, is a manifestation of the Divine Mother, which represents the female principle. Frequently, those not comprehending her many roles in life call Kali the goddess of destruction. She destroys only to recreate, and what she destroys is sin, ignorance and decay. She is equated with the eternal night, is the transcendent power of time…

For me, KALI is mainly a combination of names.
Me and my best friend… very elementary huh!

But this name has brought us in a decade of togetherness…
being one, being Kali.

KA is also term for Kapatid (brethren) which you can call Ka Lizzie...

When I first search for the meaning of this, I found BLACK…
I was stunned. Without reading first the whole content, I was thinking of changing it.

Then I browsed another… It says GOD of DESTRUCTION…
Whaaaaaaaaat??? My precious name… the US means destruction?
Hmmm.

I continue researching - read several interpretations.
I liked the one I pasted on top…
It’s for me to choose. My choice wins. This is my blog after all :)

But what’s really with the name? What goes with it?
Does the meaning of your name reflect in you?
It is identity.
But, should you be identified to what your identity means?

I don’t know if some of you also did what I’ve done.
And I don’t know if it makes sense...

But I’ve learn something; that everything on earth have corresponding meaning. In one way or another (through the net, specially) you will find some response to those unanswered questions, or just know something for the heck of it!

And I realized that the value of identity is that so often with it, comes purpose.
It’s not the meaning.
Identity seems to be the garment with which one covers the nakedness of the self…
the shadow where people hide to escape the sunlight.

We don't have to be too cautious in keeping and maintaining our identity.
I believe it is better to persevere in keeping its integrity.
It is not really WHAT we are. It is more important to know WHO we are.

Our KALI has survived a lot of struggles... storms come & go… different chapters… test of faith… phases of life… growing up… We have tagged a lot of names to the trials that we encounter…

and it is not over yet,
we know and we need to prepare...
but these trials, are the base of our identity – a being of worth & dignity.
