Downtown Burj Dubai

For me, this is the most amazing spot in Dubai... atleast for the next 1 year, maybe.
The amazing Downtown Burj Dubai is situated along sheikh zayed road... and luckily, just 15 minutes (including traffic signal) from our place :)

Obviously, this is where the tallest structure in the world is located... the BURJ DUBAI.
And in no time, lights will cover this building as it is now in its final stage of construction.

While the Burj is still in silent mode... THE ADDRESS has been a new Icon in Dubai in about 6 months already. it is nestled at the heart of the Downtown, just few steps away from...

2 of the best places to go shopping.

the Souk Al Bahar. Souk is an arabic word for market. It has a traditional arabic construction mixed with modern context... a waterside shopping and entertainment destination in the so called Old Town Island - Downtown Burj Dubai.

I dont think a day would be enough to stay in this Downtown... it wont even be enough for the DUBAI MALL... one of the largest mall in the world.
on its soft opening, Dubai Mall has 600 shops already and still counting...

the amusement is not over... having the tallest structure and one of the largest mall in the world, you can also enjoy this breath taking entertainment... the World's largest fountain...
the DUBAI FOUNTAIN.

It is set on the Burj Dubai Lake (30 acre) and the water shoots as high as 500 ft. (= 50 storey building) and 900 ft long, with 5 circles and 2 central archs.
the beam of light shining upward from the fountain can be seen over 20 miles away and will be visible from space making it the brightest spot in the M.E. and quite possibly, in the whole world.

3 world titles... on one spot!
isnt it amazing???

i know my photos are not that good :(
it was my first time to go there and watched the fountain and i was really really fascinated.
i did a point and shoot so i can watch it live :)
i will post a better one... soon!

Dubai - EK 333 - 19 Feb 09

Exactly 3 weeks ago.

Burj Dubai showed me a different look as half of it was hiding behind clouds... as if I should take a look at it from up above, since it was the day of my flight.
burj dubai view from jumeirah 2 (canon ixus)
God just love me so much... aside from the very good weather, there were no traffic jams along Sheikh Zayed Road, which seldom happens on weekdays. this was around 730AM and usually, it should be an office hour rush.

here's another glimpse of Burj Dubai as we pass the now called - Downtown Burj Dubai, just along Sheikh Zayed Road.

we reached the aiport around 8AM. ETD was 1030AM. just on the right time to settle everything. or rather, we were early, since there was no queue in the new Dubai Airport (Terminal 3) which is exclusive for Emirates Airlines.

i should have took more photos, but admittedly, i was russsshhhhhing... i still need to buy somethings from duty free... :)
>>>

and so, we were on board.

and ready for take off...

i was quite disappointed... for i was seated in the middle, not at the window side. though, i was able to steal some photos. i extended my arms towards the window while my seatmate was sleeping :)
yet, most of the time, he was awake since it was a morning flight... thanks to ICE for the entertainment... i watched 'bugs life' and 'toy story' :)
and the COLD or VERY COLD food was served... just on time after the first movie... as expected, it is best to sleep after meal... i'll be needing a lot of energy as soon as i reach home.
after 2 movies, 2 meals and one snack...
finally, we reached Manila. ETD 10:50PM (MLA time).
during this time... i dont know why my heart was beating fast. as if its my first time in the Philippines. the excitement was all around me... i cant wait to see them.
and again, im sorry... but as soon as we landed, i kept my camera on my bag...
i was on a hurry... and i know you'll understand :)

Burj Dubai 2009 - soaring high

this post is 2 weeks late...
my favorite spot here in Dubai... the Burj Dubai.
of course, i wont miss taking its picture at the last day of 2008 & the first day of 2009.
31 December 2008 / 930 - 10AM
up to date, it reached its peak. the current height - 688.00m
and the tip of the spire will be visible from 60 miles away...
wow! the tallest structure in the world.
01 January 2009 / sunset
when you look at it, within the area, its just like one of the ordinary high rise building here in Sheikh Zayed Road. but from afar, the rest were just half of its lenght.

i am always amazed and somehow scared with this fact:
that man was so eager and were able to create something this huge! (which always reminds me of the 'tower of babel')
it once happened. i hope not again...

the goal of burj dubai is not only to be the world's highest building, but to embody the world's highest aspiration.

great vision... awesome achievement!

same as this burj (tower), dubai has also reached its peak. it has become the center for trade in the middle east. and became an inspiration to other GCC region.

and this is the most frightening stage - being at the pinnacle, holding the beacon.

and the hardest is maintaining to be there, on top, when there is no other stairs to climb.

burj dubai also has the record of the world's highest elevator installation and the world's fastest at 18m/sec (40mph). can you imagine? i would love to try this... my greatest dream at the moment!!

but how fast can this elevator go down?

i am not saying that dubai will be going down...well, nobody says that USA will be, too...
im not saying that because i want to, but somehow, it is the reality.

we can all have our peak... and eventually, we there will be no other way...

so, maybe, for now, while we still have the benefit of 'being on the prime spot', while dreams continuous to fly & while we have the choice to enjoy & be glad... lets all do it.

it will be an exciting journey, as the burj continue to soar high, we should all be in inspired to do the same. we can shine our own light... we can set our own star.
all we have to do is to have a vision that we can also embody our highest aspiration.

dubai by night

walking is a good exercise...
and it gives me the advantage of seeing this city's skyline.
being able to keep an eye on the fast phase development of Dubai.
every night, we walk - going home.
cheaper. better. more fun.
hassle free on taxi drivers...

and atleast we are able to inhale some fresh air!
its badly needed especially on these busy days...

lets walk together, let me show you the way...

we're home now...
see these hammerSSS (1-2-3) outside?
NOT OURS! :)
