Another Summer Passed...

It's a lovely day out there! Bright sunny day with cool breeze of winter wind.
Summer is finally over... just as quick as October.
Time runs fast; I have counted several summers here in UAE and have waited with enthusiasm for winters. This transition is significant for me. If you have noticed, I have written few blogs about this, annually -- when its almost winter.

What makes this time remarkable for me?
I guess, being in the Middle East, knowing that you are in the desert, having experience the heat of summer and have survived it,  makes this time an extra special above the other phases.

During this time, it feels good to look back few months back... while you are covering yourself from the sun and the hot wind that blows on your face. The feeling of survival and victory that you have overcome the scorching heat of summer.

This year, blazing wind blew several times... I know its not only me, but many of us had a searing summer.

Personally, our family went over with many difficulties. We were not exempted to pain and trials. Like most Filipino families do, we faced it, dealt with it, and until today we are managing it, together. Death, sickness, wrong decisions, misunderstanding, lack of communication, distance... many factors, but with God's grace, we are embracing winter with faith, hope and love.

Company in particular and global economy in general had been roasted on summer... I have seen the decrease of our profit, clients picked the cheaper options, some division closed, others retrenched workers in order to survive. Yet, despite all those baking in finances on summer of 2011, I still had an increment and all the benefits that I am entitled of. God has provided for me.

Before the summer finally ended, there were several tragedies that happened in our country, Philippines... earthquake, flood, landslide, war... name it and we have stories to tell. Calamities warmth the summer of our country. Families were left homeless by the water of Pedring. People buried alive on landslides. Drought had destroy many farmland. War killed innocent men.  These put our country in fire. But Filipinos are positive people. The flame that ignite in their heart is the strength that comes from God. There might be burning coal still, but they are now using it to give heat on the cool winter breeze.

Did the cold air embrace you today?

Look back at your summer once again... recall how hot the temperature was, so you can go out and enjoy the breeze after that...

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
